Beautiful rain: Renoir’s famous Les Parapluies (The Umbrellas 1883)
Come to me my child.
Come this way.
The thunder and lightning are on their way.
I will take you away from this frightful day.
Don't let this storm be in your way.
Come to your mama, who is home worried sick.
I am here to protect you.
But she's home to take good care of you
When we get there together.
Won't you listen to your sister?
Won't you do as you are told to do?
You shall learn the way of us women, young child, you shall learn the future that will soon will be yours.
The first and most important thing you should know is to look happy even if you are not.
Do not speak in public it is impolite.
You shall get married as I will do so too.
You are to wear elegant but uncomfortable clothes.
This is our future as women, sad but true and you will join in soon.
this is really good! I love the speaker. It's a person directly speaking to another, and yet its a poem. I love how you used the time period this painting was made in. You thought of the late 1800s and the responsibility of women to use in the poem, which was amazing.
